Design System / 00

Introduction

An editorial design language derived from a range of monochrome modern designs — photography provides the warmth and motion provides the craft.

Principles

Monochrome by default

Near-black ink on warm off-white. Color belongs to photography; the interface stays out of its way.

Editorial typography

One typeface: Neue Montreal, from uppercase micro-labels to large display sizes. System text (eyebrows, metadata) is the same face styled small, uppercase, and tracked out.

Hairlines, not boxes

Structure comes from 1px rules at 14–20% ink, never from fills, shadows, or rounded cards.

Motion is functional

Two easing curves, durations under 400ms for interaction feedback, transform/opacity only, and every animation has a reduced-motion fallback.

Details carry the brand

The nav label that slides to reveal a twin, the button that lifts one pixel, the preloader that counts itself awake — small reactions, consistently applied.
